Our Mission

In the heart of every community lies a place where bonds are formed, traditions are nurtured, and sustenance is gathered.

The Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market stands proudly as that central beacon, a place where our collective commitment to each other, to our environment, and to the hardworking hands of our farmers is deeply rooted and nourished.

It is here, amidst the bustling stalls and vibrant chatter, where we affirm our dedication to:

  • celebrate and share the bounty.

  • uphold the integrity of our land.

  • support the farmers, food producers, and artisans who work tirelessly to provide food that feeds both our bodies and our souls.

We are grateful for everyone who has joined us on this path — your support, energy, and belief in the importance of local food and local voices resonate deeply within the market’s atmosphere.

You are more than customers; you are neighbors, friends, and the co-authors of our shared narrative.

Together, we embark on this journey, not only to plant and harvest crops but to cultivate a community that is rich in connection, vibrant in spirit, and robust in its resilience.

The Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market is a testament to this collective endeavor, and as it thrives, so does the community it reflects and serves.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being an integral part of our evolving story.

Our Farm Market Team

As the seasons have turned, the Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market has continued to evolve under the guidance of its board of directors and president, Greg Swartz.

Greg is not only at the helm of our market's direction but is also the founder and owner of Willow Wisp Organic Farm in Damascus, PA.

As a proud vendor at the Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market, Greg brings a passion for sustainable farming and a commitment to our local food ecosystem.

The operational reins of our market day activities have gracefully been handed over to Shah Buyuk, our esteemed on-site market coordinator, now in his beloved second year with us.

Danielle Gaebel and Jennifer Bitetto, the newly appointed stewards of the Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market, bring an invigorating blend of energy and seasoned insight to their roles as market managers.

Their extensive experience with the market stretches back to 2015 and even further back, from 2012 through 2016, marking their crucial leadership roles within the Sullivan County Farmers’ Market Association, where they significantly impacted the local food scene.

Beyond their managerial duties, Danielle and Jennifer are the esteemed co-founders of Superfine Social, Narrowsburg residents, and vocal proponents of farm-fresh local food.

Our History

In the tapestry of local commerce, the oldest thread can be traced back to cooperative marketing, a tradition where community and marketplace converge in public spaces.

This tradition allows not only for the exchange of goods but for a gathering of souls, sharing stories, laughter, and camaraderie.

The Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market weaves itself proudly into this historic fabric, embodying the modern iteration of this timeless marketplace.

Since its inception, the Narrowsburg Farmers’ Market has been more than a place to buy fresh produce and handcrafted goods; it has been a nexus of community, education, and sustainability.

Our market’s journey began in 2019, building on the legacy of the Barryville Farmers’ Market that sprouted in 2005 under the thoughtful nurture of founders Mark Veeder and Cooper Boone.

Their vision was rooted in a deep respect for rural traditions and a passionate drive to support the American farmer.

The essence of their mission was further embodied by the Barryville Greenmarket Foundation, established to not only manage the market but to foster a culture of educational outreach regarding healthy, local eating habits.

This foundation emphasized the quintessential role of local farmers in nurturing a well-rounded, vibrant community.
