Vegan, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free

Ingredients

3 pounds apples (about 8-10 large), peeled, cored, and sliced

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon sea salt

¼ cup apple cider or water

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a crockpot, cover, and cook on high heat for 2-3 hours, stirring halfway through to break up the apples.

  2. Let applesauce cool and transfer to jars.

Quick Tips & Notes

  • Use suggest Honeycrisp apples (a fan favorite), but feel free to use any apples or a mix.

  • You can omit the cinnamon.

  • You can add honey or maple, but it’s sweet enough without additional sugar.

  • Freeze applesauce in freezer-safe pint jars for use throughout the winter.

  • If you LOVE applesauce, double or triple the recipe.

  • If you use red apples and keep the skins on, you can make pink applesauce. That said, we only recommend doing this when using local, organic apples. You will also need a food mill to easily separate the skins.

  • If you make a lot of apple desserts, applesauce, etc., invest in an apple peeler and corer for fast and easy processing.
